Don't buy From Ads for Cheap Software on Impulse

You have just received an email or read an ad for cheap software that claims to make your online marketing much easier. It is advertised for $7, $10, $27 or $37.

Hang on, some further investigation is needed. If the software is new it will cost much more. Software of this type usually does not include any support. In one instance, I did a seach for a keyword program and clicked on the ad for Brainstorm Generator, software to find keywords for profitable niches. I thought it might have some value for finding niches for adsense websites. Although I thought it appeared interesting, the download price was $10.

eBay is often a good source of almost free software or reports. It has many ads for cheap software. My first choice for a search was eBay, but it did not return results for ads for cheap software. The results from a web search revealed a site marketing the same program for $2.95.

Total research time, 5 minutes. After some more digging, I was able to ascertain that the software was originally sold in 2005 for almost $300. Sometimes older software has some use, but sometimes it is unusable because support is not available.  A $7 saving for 5 minutes isn't bad.

Whenever I receive an email or see an ad for cheap software, my first thought is where can I find it for free. More searching can often turn up sites where the software could be accessed for no cost whatsoever.
