Knitting Baby Dresses
Knitting Baby Dresses
There
really are fewer things sweeter than seeing a baby girl in a hand knit
dress. Finding that one baby dress knitting pattern that captures your
attention and ignites your imagination is one of the greatest feelings
in the world, especially if this is for your baby.
Here
is a perfectly darling pattern for a hand knit baby dress:
http://www.craftown.com/knit/knit33.htm. You will find though that the
rows that make up the skirt can get quite repetitive. One thing I do in
order to avoid constantly counting back to see how many rows I've
completed is stick a post it note on my pattern and mark off each row
that I've done in series of five marks, then move to the next set. This
means I can scan fairly quickly and count how many rows I've done.
Other people I know place the pattern into a photo album page with the
plastic cover and use a charcoal pencil to do the same thing. Whichever
works best for you is the way you should go. Personally, I'd much
rather toss a piece of paper into the trash bin than try to clean off
the plastic page.
Here's another great little dress
for all seasons that can be found at
www.magknits.com/Jan06/patterns/blossom.htm. I really like this dress,
it is made with lightweight yarn that can be layered in the winter and
is cool enough to be worn alone during warmer seasons. You can also
check out how significant an impact changing the weight of the yarn
will have on the pattern. It may be worth it to use a heavier yarn for
those winter months since babies outgrow things so quickly. Check with
a local yarn shop about yarns that might make good substitutions..
Your
little princess will look perfectly darling in either of these dresses.
Don't just take my word for it though, try them out and see for
yourself. If these don't spark your imagination, be sure to check out
local yarn and craft shops in order to see if they have a better baby
dress knitting pattern available. Find interesting yarns in bright
colors to make these patterns even more fun. Remember, knitting is
supposed to be fun, right?
