Easy Poncho Knitting Pattern

Easy Poncho Knitting Pattern

An icon of 70s fashion, the poncho has made its come back! An ideal gift, this easy poncho knitting pattern knits up in no time to provide you with a high fashion garment suitable for any occasion.

The great thing about this pattern is that it doesn't even take a lot of skill. Those who have never knitted before should be able to master it providing they go out and have a look at their acronyms. A poncho is a great garment that is becoming ever more fashionable, imagine what your loved one will say when you hand her the poncho that you knitted for her!

This size is more suited to those around forty inches wide. This is the size of a large girl and a small women, however if you want to change it around a bit then that is ok. Make less rows of stitches should you want it to be smaller, or more rows if you want it to be bigger. It really is that simple!

Now you will require wool, you will require needles and you will also need to know the gauge. This is nine to ten stitches over twenty rows, and this is equal to four square inches.

Remember that you start with the R over S and move to W over S. Knit the rear and opposite for stitching a k1 through to knit for seven stitches long. You then follow a similar procedure for the second row where the first stitch is equal to the second. Now do RS K1, K1tog then two stitches over nine stitches long. Now K1, K2, K WS is the same as for the front. Using a pin or needle put through until secure. Now centralize and hold. Then K, K1.

When finishing this pattern the choice is yours. However most prefer to extenuate the neck. Using the same technique for the first rows you could even choose to add a rounded extension to the hood, whilst others attach pom-poms.

If this was your first pattern and you completed it correctly then well done.

Why not give it a go? With a little time and effort, you'll soon get the hang of it! Good luck with this easy poncho knitting pattern!
