Martha Stewart Poncho Knitting Pattern

Martha Stewart Poncho Knitting Pattern

This pattern is designed to resemble the infamous 'freedom' poncho worn by Martha Stewart as she was released from prison.  This poncho is worked in one piece and gently finished with a scallop shell stitch edging.  Suitable for knitters of intermediate skill and those who can build up the confidence to go in at the deep end.

Before you will start you will need a few things. Firstly your wool and a hook, and you also need to understand exactly what is going on with the gauge and so on. It is seven and a half inches or around four to five rows over four square inches.

The choice of yarn is up to you but remember that Martha wore red to represent her message so you could too. If you choose to opt for a different color then knitting is a way by which many people like to show their creativity through altering the colors so this is perfectly reasonable.

The completed size of this piece is twenty five square inches, so keep this n mind if you want to change the sizes. For example if you want to make it bigger then run more rows, and if you want to make it smaller then go for less rows. This may be common sense to intermediates however the beginners have to learn as well.

Before even starting the base round you should make sure that the chain fits over the head of the wearer, if not then you have to think about alterations at this point. Now go for four stitches then work three further stitches, then go into first then skip till second. K2tog. K1, K1 and continue for the row, whilst holding in center place.

K1 and then hold until secure. Now work the third into the chain and then twist. Repeat what occurs in the first sequence across all even rows, then on uneven rows it is k2tog, MO, K1, knit twice and then twist. The slip should be centered to ensure the best results from the design.

Good luck with this more complicated Martha Stewart Poncho Knitting Pattern!
